With customer demands increasing Paul Isherwood the MD at Counterplas decided it was time to move the business forward so as to create manufacturing capacity through the reduction of waste rather than through capital investment in more machinery; however they were already in the process of up grading some of their moulding machines.
The first team of 5 completed the Lean Academy’s 12 week rapid improvement workshop in December of last year Paul Isherwood has stated that the business has benefited in many ways from this process.
“We knew we had large areas of inefficiency in the business, what we did not have was the tools to rectify these problems, by engaging with the Lean Academy, we now have good control over our processes and can accurately measure our downtime, importantly have the skills to do something about it – the team has a better understanding of the roles in the business and how those roles are interconnected.”
